Philip Embury did just about everything but make the coffee on this entirely forgettable gay drama about a young man - also called "Philip". He is a writer, a voracious reader and an amateur philosopher who is desperate to save his recently inherited ocean beach house from repossession! He's been presented with a $40k tax bill and if he doesn't settle it within three months, then it all gets seized by Uncle Sam. He isn't without friends like "Katie" (Bianca Rutigliano) but she isn't really in a position to help him raise the cash. Just to add to that seemingly insurmountable quandary, he is also introduced to "Hunter" (Marshall Taylor Thurman) to whom he takes an immediate shine. His friends think he ought to make a move, but he isn't sure he is on safe territory - even if, as exemplified perfectly by "Katie", it's fairly obvious for all to see that he would be. Anyway, what now ensues doesn't quite follow all of the expected tram lines, but it stays fairly close as it struggles to make it to ninety minutes. It's really more of a short story, to be honest, and though easy enough on the eye both of the leading men play a decidedly second fiddle to a Rutigliano who very much owns her scenes, and has the best lines too. There is some lovely seaside photography and the two men are very natural together, but sadly there isn't anything very memorable here.
